joY Mindfulness Training
for Educators and
School Staff
$150/hour
We offer a number of formal sessions (typically one to two hours in length) designed to aid school staff members in understanding and practicing Mindfulness. Each program is informative, interactive, engaging, relaxing, inspiring.....and if we do no have one already designed to suit your needs, we can build one for you!
For beginning groups, we can start with the fundamentals of Mindfulness in a course titled: "Welcome to Mindfulness." This program offers school staff members some basic education in Mindfulness, in addition to some simple practices. This session is considered self-care for the participants, and intended to make them more effective with students, colleagues, families and more.
If your group is already practicing Mindfulness, we have programming that allows us to apply Mindfulness to other areas of your workplace and personal lives. For example, we have programs focused on:
Using Mindfulness to Find More Rest
Using Mindfulness to Clean up Our Spaces
Using Mindfulness to Care for Challenging Kids
Using Mindfulness for Eating and Health
Using Mindfulness to Heal Relationships
Using Mindfulness to Look at our Biases
Using Mindfulness to Find More Gratitude
Using Mindfulness to Heal Guilt and Shame
And more . . .
We can promise that all of our trainings are informative, interactive, engaging, relaxing, inspiring.....and if we do not have a training already designed that suits your needs, we can build one for you!
We also offer all of the following sessions to educational staff members and these types of sessions have received tremendous feedback over the last several years from those in the Fairport Central School District.

Reiki is an amazing energy therapy that offers powerful rest and healing, so that we are more likely to move through the world connected and Mindful. It is challenging to put into words the power of this ancient mind-body-spirit practice, but read on . . .
Simply stated, Reiki is an old and transformative method of hands on (and/or hands hovering) rest and healing for the body, mind and spirit. As far as we know, it was developed in Japan during the early 1900s by a doctor who understood that your body, mind and spirit are all vital entities of your total being.
Body Mind Spirit
Loosely translated, Reiki means “universal life force energy.” This energy, possessed by all of us, is transferred through the practitioner’s hands, and other energy fields, to the client, and often even back and forth between us. In addition, a Reiki practitioner has your best interest in mind, body and spirit when working with you and is transferring healing intentions to you at all times. Your practitioner may even silently speak purposeful and nurturing words during your session, improving the already well-meaning flow of energy.
During a Reiki session, you will experience hands on your body or hovering above your body, and these placements will mostly align with each of your seven chakras. The chakras are believed to hold different forms of your life force energy. The Reiki touch is meant to help this energy flow in healthy ways throughout your body so that you can experience more of the peace and joY your life is meant to be.
With a skilled practitioner, Reiki will, at the very least, bring you an intense level of relaxation that leads to a more calm body, mind and spirit. This relaxation can lead to tremendous physical benefits (limited list below) and can leave us more open to joYful experiences. At most, Reiki (and particularly regular treatments, monthly) can create lasting physical, mental, emotional and spiritual relief that can lead to noticeably improved well-being and quality of life. Reiki can allow you to test the beliefs and habits that might be restricting our success, connectedness, vitality, resilience, enjoYment and more, so that we can improve circumstances in our lives. Furthermore, Reiki can release trauma held in the body and mind and open the heart and soul to more joY . . . for yourself and others.

You can expect soothing music throughout and various forms of aromatherapy.

joY Meditation

Meditation is an ancient mental and spiritual practice that invites us to find a kind of quiet and stillness we cannot often find in the pace of our days. It allows us space to more easily notice our thoughts and feelings and breathe with them, but not get carried away by them. Meditation provides the pause that is needed to perhaps find more intention and more meaning in this life.
Meditation is to Mindfulness what lifting weights is to muscle strength. One does not strength train to get better at strength training. Likewise, one does not meditate to get better at meditating. We build muscle to help us lift heavy things in our every day lives. We meditate to help us be more Mindful in our every day lives. Meditation provides the pause we need to breathe and pay true attention to the present moment. It brings us to a kind of noticing of our minds and bodies that perhaps we cannot get any other way. Largely, it is a practice in stillness, quiet and awareness. It sounds easy, but it can be quite challenging. It also sounds like something we don't need in a culture that glorifies a fast-paced, achievement-oriented, highly-scheduled, consumer-driven lifestyle. Could it be though, that this is not the truth of who we are and that Meditation can offer us more truth?
